People often ask what are H1 tags, well, there are many tags using the ‘H’, there is the H1 of course and this is used for the heading, or title of a page, here is an example of what it looks like:

Just put the above in your HTML code and your headline will be BIG.
There are other tags as mentioned before; the next one will be the H2, H3, H4, H5 and H6.
Just experiment with these, select your headline, then go to your HTML code and add the tags, you will see a huge difference between the H1 and H5 for example.
The H2 and H3 are used for less important headings, such as the next paragraph and are a little smaller than the H1 tag.
As an example, say you were talking about search engine marketing and discussing Meta tags and Pay per click, your page would look a little like this:

The first thing to do is to choose carefully your keywords and key phrases then add these into your Meta tags for your pages.
<h2>Pay per click</h2>
Pay per click is a good way of getting your website listed in the search engines fast, no waiting around for them to come and find your site, your in there straight away.
Notice how much bigger the H1 when compared to the H2, if you try these yourself, you will soon understand how easy it is to emphasise particular parts of your web pages.
Many people suffer from the big gap that using these tags produces; this can be fixed simply by using CSS.
